We stopped into the Red Lion Inn while exploring Stockbridge, and even without staying overnight, it was absolutely worth the visit. The amount of history here is incredible. You really feel it just walking the halls. We popped in to warm up with hot beverages, relax in the lobby, and explore inside. As a kid, I remember hearing stories about the inn being haunted, and learning more about the building now, it’s easy to see why people say that. Some of the older architectural details, like rooms with adjoining bathrooms, always stood out to me and add to the character. The location is perfect- right near the Norman Rockwell Museum and surrounded by charming shops and walkable streets. It’s cozy, inviting, and very classic New England. Even as a short stop, the Red Lion Inn felt special. If you’re visiting Stockbridge, it’s worth stepping inside just to experience the history and atmosphere.

This place is a magical blast to the past. It has been around since 1773 and as cheesy as it sounds it feels like the spirits of old still inhabit this marvelous enchanting inn. When you first step foot on the premises your heart will be warmed with a strong feeling of love, safety and comfort, preserved in this space for centuries. You will marvel at the rich display of art and furniture, assembled with intricate variety. For those adventurous souls seeking supernatural intrigues you might encounter a melancholy ghost wandering the haunted halls and rooms of the 4th floor. No joke. The 4th floor is haunted, if some staff and guests are to believed. I didn’t see any ghosts, but I certainly felt an unmistakeable dampening in the energy when I briefly explored the area. Stick to the first two floors if that isn’t your thing. Great place for the artist, history buff or writer to sojourn for inspiration.

We came to the Red Lion Inn as a short getaway. Our room is cozy, the bath/shower water is always exactly the right degree of hot, the inn lobby is bustling with festive cheer, the dining room serves excellent food, the staff members have all been very pleasant and helpful, the hallways are quaint and articled with rich, historical decor from across the last 200+ years. The fireplace has been roaring with life each night. The inn delights the young and old alike. We have not met unhappy guests.

We had a queen suite (the Porch Suite) in one of their Village houses). We were able to bring our dogs, as they have certain pet friendly rooms). It was for our 10th anniversary, and they left a bottle of wine and a very nice note. Had a late lunch in the Main Dining room - out server was friendly and just attentive enough. Food was delicious and the warm apple cider(with a touch of rum) hit the spot on a cold winters day!! Our check in went smoothly and housekeeping was very sweet and ensured we had all that we needed. Cannot wait to come back!!

Nothing, and I mean nothing, has changed over the many decades our family has been enjoying The Red Lion Inn…and that’s why we keep coming back! The rooms are not fancy but unique, quaint and filled with charm! The wood floors undulate and creak throughout the Inn and there are antique furnishings scattered everywhere. The food at the main restaurant is top notch and offers menu classics along with seasonal specialties. We are already looking forward to returning!

Placed restaurant reservations weeks before the date of arrival. No complications, complaints, or mistakes made by our waiter. My food was delivered cold to me and when I notified our waiter it was immediately returned to the kitchen for correction. I have patronized the Inn multiple times in the past over many years. I return time and time again. Our cocktails were made to perfection. It was lightly snowing outside adding to the charm of the quaint New England Inn. Spent about 6 hrs there and once again had the best of time. Looking forward to a return for a weekend stay.

The Red Lion is a beautiful Historic Inn. We usually book a main inn deluxe king suite with a fireplace. December is a great time in Stockbridge. They have the recreation of the main street Christmas, winter lights at Naumkaeg and other holiday light shows at the mount etc. The widow Bingham tavern in the inn is decently priced and the food is great. The main dining room serves an upscale meal at a very upscale price. You can't go wrong sitting in the main reception area by the fireplace when they have a harpist playing or a pianist. The hot tub and pool are heated and are nice to go in even on a cold snowy December evening. The hallways are curated with art and antiques that increase the charm of the inn. Its a beautiful place that you will enjoy but that enjoyment comes at a premium price.

Very nice and romantic vibes. Not too loud. The kale and pear salad was phenomenal especially with the freshly grated cheese on top. Filet mignon was delicious. Roasted Chicken was absolutely juicy. Deserts was A+ as we got the warm brown sugar cake and pecan pie. Service was on point and maître d’ was very welcoming and nice. Must go!!
